Magic Pills
Magic Pills is a new documentary directed, produced and written by a friend and colleague of mine, Ananda More. The film challenges its viewers to make their own decisions as to the efficacy of homeopathy after witnessing real world healing success stories in often serious, chronic disease. It is a work of art, and its content deserves serious consideration as it gives valuable insight into a medicine that myself and other homeopaths throughout the world work with on a daily basis.
I have been closely involved with the movie for a while, from originally reviewing it and its progress, (https://hpathy.com/homeopathy-papers/magic-pills-film-critique/ ) and have started to write occasional blogs for the website, which further explore the themes set out in the film. I have become passionate about the subject matter of the film, which in no uncertain terms paints a true picture about the healing potential of homeopathy. For this reason I am hugely motivated to further promote the film and its content far and wide and to help those who would benefit from its content. Ananda and I both attended the same homeopathy college (although at different times) and as I live part of the time in Toronto, it is easy for us to liaise in person as well as online.
In addition I respect the high quality research presented and am determined that the truth be exposed, despite the continued efforts of the homeopathic detractors. To this end, I work closely with Ananda, and help in whichever small way I can, behind the scenes to help bring its message to the world.
If you know anyone who may be able to assist us, please do get in touch! We still need much funding and we would love some celebrity interest in the film too. We see homeopathy very much as a medicine of the future, its true healing potential massively suppressed. For more details about the film please go to the website: https://watch.magicpillsmovie.com

tools to help you write high quality homeopathic case reports
I recently had the honour of talking to Dr Robbert van Haselen, MSc. He brings his scientific background to homeopathic research, pharmacy and practice. Dr. Haselen has a very distinguished career to date. He is an independent consultant, working with different stakeholders; one of his current roles as part of Liga Medicorum Homoeopathica Internationalis (LMHI) is to consult on various projects concerning the Covid data collection projects, where he seeks to encourage the production of high-quality case reports and to improve clinical case taking.

Health hawk: recording the patient's voice
I recently had the opportunity to chat with Dr Philippa Fibert, who is involved in the Health Hawk projects together with Dr Clare Relton. She states that “Health Hawk is group of homeopaths working in a variety of ways, within a variety of organizations, on a variety of interlinked projects. Our overarching vision is to help build healthier health systems.”

covid data collection project: peter gold, american institute of homeopathy (AIH)
This interview, with Peter Gold of The American Institute of Homeopathy, (AIH), is the first in a series, which discusses the methods and outcome of the data collection following homeopathic treatment of COVID-19, from March, 2020, to date. In this particular project, one hundred and sixty-five doctors and homeopaths from AIH and around the world are participating in essential data collection, which is collated to show the efficacy of homeopathy as a potential modality in the treatment of Covid-19.

Post-Traumatic stress disorder
'Trauma is personal. It does not disappear if it is not validated. When it is ignored or invalidated the silent screams continue internally heard only by the one held captive. When someone enters the pain and hears the screams healing can begin.’ (Danielle Bernock)
The aim of this article is to outline the condition, its prevalence and discuss both the conventional and holistic approaches that have proven to be effective in its management. Read the blog here. |
Cuba - The Country That Dares To Be Wise
‘I believe you have to be willing to be misunderstood if you’re going to innovate.’ – Jeff Bezos
In times of crisis there are always those people and those countries that become pioneers. These are the free thinkers, the innovators, the ones that dare to flaunt convention and explore new methods.

Vermont- Another Win for Homeopathy, and Health Choice Freedom
The current trend to denigrate homeopathy and other CAM therapies continues. Governing bodies seem determined to undermine any research and vast evidence base, invariably, because these therapies do not fit into the conventional paradigm, making it more difficult to gauge efficacy.

Small Victory, Major Implications!
Taking stock of a small but significant development at the close of 2018 - Brussels rejects the Spanish request to change the law on homeopathy. A minor win - with potentially major implications. Read the blog to find out more. |
Homeopathy grows more popular in Scotland!
In Scotland, the NHS still continues to fund homeopathy and the wonderful news is that in 2017, there was an increase of 9% in expenditure in NHS homeopathy in the Grampian region. In discussing this rise and in defence of the expenditure, an NHS Grampian spokeswoman stated: ‘We have a clinical and ethical responsibility to consider all treatments available to NHS patients to ensure they offer safe, evidence based, effective and person-centred care…Homeopathy can be considered in this arena...

Magic Pills Premieres in London at the Society of Homeopaths Conference
Magic Pills UK Premiere, School of Pharmacy, April 27th, 2018
If you are part of the homeopathic community, either as a homeopath or as a patient, you may be aware that the cutting-edge film, Magic Pills, produced and directed by Ananda More, had its debut performance in London, last Friday evening. Social Media has been flooded with coverage of the event, which was a high-quality, trailblazing start to The Society of Homeopaths conference and AGM; and did, in my opinion, set the tone for an excellent weekend all round, of high quality presentations and a wonderful eclectic gathering of the world wide homeopathic community.

What is 'Astroturfing'? And is it applicable to the natural health industry and homeopathy?
In the book ‘Grassroots for Hire: Public Affairs Consultants in American Democracy’ (2014,) Edward Walker defines ‘astroturfing’ as: ‘Public participation that is perceived as heavily incentivised, as fraudulent (claims are attributed to those who did not make such statements), or as an elite campaign masquerading as a mass movement.’ In the light of this statement, the intention of this article is to explore the underlying meaning and implications of the term ‘astroturfing’ and its relevance, if any, to homeopathy. Having reviewed and witnessed the sincere content of the movie ‘Magic Pills’ (a film about homeopathy, which balances the sceptics attacks with positive case outcomes and facts,) I have felt compelled to research further into what appears to be an unjust and false representation of the benefits of natural medicine and homeopathy, favouring almost any form of medicine that is profitable. To this end, the current state of affairs with regard to natural versus conventional medicine will be analyzed and discussion around any possible misrepresentation or manipulation of data evaluated. Definition and examples of astroturfing will be given putting the analysis into context, together with a general discussion on the subject and the effect it is having on consumers and society in general. Finally, having clarified the meaning and discussed specific instances of astroturfing, the truth and its relevance, I will apply this, albeit briefly, to the subject matter of Magic Pills.
